I was going to post this under the funnies, but it's not really a joke. I think the poor goober should have gotten to see his horse, LOL.... when I was in the hospital I'd have licked the boots of the person who brought me my horse!

but of course, there's rules, sigh.....

A man surprised the staff and patients of Wilcox Memorial Hospital in Lihu‘e by bringing a horse inside the hospital, aiming to cheer up a sick family member.

The spokeswoman at th hospital, Lani Yukimura, said the man thought the patient would be happy to see his stallion.

The rather drunk visitor and his companion rode the elevator up to the third floor, where they encountered the hospital’s security personnel, who stopped them.

When seeing the horse, the relative of the "well intended" man did not recognize it as his own.

According to the Associated Press, Yukimura said security managed to take the man and the horse out of the hospital calmly and peacefully, with "just a few scuff marks."

Apparently, Wilcox hospital has a policy that allows pet visitations, but it only refers to cats and dogs and not large animals like horses.

"On Kauai, we have a very warm inviting atmosphere at Wilcox," Yukimura said, according to the Associated Press. "We just hope people understand this is not a place for a horse."

According to local newspapers, Yukimura said she is aware that pets could help patients recover more quicly, as research on the subject proved. But the hospital’s main concern is the safety of its patients, staff and visitors, and their safety could be endangered if the rules were not respected.

The bizarre visitor and his horse were not identified and no photograph of them was released, as the hospital does not allow unescorted news photographers take photos on hospital property.
