An Englishman who lives in Shetland and is the defender in a civil action will argue that Scots law has no jurisdiction over him.

First link didn't work for me, Chookie. But the article is very interesting from more than a Shetland perspective.
I don't know how succesful he will be and I am not sure exactly what his aim is. If he proves the UK government has no ownership, what then?

Here's the link again (and it works this time):

He appears to be saying that Scots Law does not/should not apply in Shetland.
It's as if he is saying "I'm English, so your quaint little legal system doesn't apply to me".
Ahh...no sign of altruism then...
Pity.
Miriya will like this idea though.:D
It is an interesting case, is there any support in the islands for the concept of Danish sovereignty?

That depends on who you're speaking to and how drunk he/she is, otherwise, not much. People who are into Danish sovereignty are a bit like Tories on the Mainland.

what do you mean?
what do you mean?
Tory is a nick for the Conservative Party, almost no one in Scotland votes Conservative.
Margaret Thatcher was a Tory and because of how she treated Scotland, really since her demise the party has had no support here.
In the last Scottish elections, people did not want to vote for the Labour Party (Tony Blair/Gordon Brown) because it lead us into the Iraq war. The Tories are the natural alternative. But even then people did not vote for them, they voted in the leader of the Scottish Nationalist Party instead.
That is the theory anyway. Personally, I hope people have just come around to supporting the idea of independence.

I still dont know what you mean about denmark
This guy has some ongoing legal issue, in order to avoid prosecution for this he has researched the sovereignty of the Shetland Islands.
The islands are Scottish and under UK sovereignty, but this guy claims they have never been owned by the UK and should be under Danish sovereignty.
