Sorry for the delay in introducing myself - I only found this thread today. I'm "40ish", a long time forum veteran with a noted passion for history, economics, political theory, political science and philosophy (and a couple of degrees in these topics). As for politics, I'm a classical liberal (old school 'Whig').

As a general rule, 'serious rightwingers' usually consider me a 'lefty' and 'serious leftwingers' usually consider me a 'righty'. This amuses me.

Btw, I was invited here by Viv who is always charming. ;)
