I know we have some Irish people on this forum, and I am deeply sorry, but this is hilarious. :D

You forget. I'm a gun-toting American Libertarian. :p

I can get away with this stuff, because anyone who tracks me down to take revenge on me for making fun of a stereotype will get a quick introduction to Mr. 9x18mm Makarov. ;)

You forget that some of us are not only Irish, but Irish Republicans....:)

The answer to Dia duit is Dia's muire duit ("Hello, God and Mary to you"). :)

Sorry, it ain't. It's a completely separate language. It does, admittedly have the same basic root as English. But a dialect it is not.

Broad Scots (Braid Scottis/Lallans/Doric) or whatever you wish to call it is, like English, a South branch Teutonic language, but the outside influences were far different.

English was influenced mainly by Danish (the majority of the Vikings in England were of Danish origin) and Norman French.

Scots was influenced by Gaelic, Pictish, Norwegian, French (through the Auld Alliance), Flemish and, via the Hanse, the Dutch and Baltic tongues.
