Muslim jokes 'scare' BBC - Elton

Elton said people have 'no right not to be offended'
Comedian and writer Ben Elton has said the BBC is too "scared" to broadcast jokes about Muslims for fear of provoking radical Islamists. Elton, in an interview with Christian magazine Third Way, added that the broadcaster would "let vicar gags pass but would not let imam gags pass".

I think he's probably right. He is known for speaking the truth, they probably do prefer to avoid jokes of that nature in case it sparks some issues. Who can blame them after the Danish cartoon situation?

He has a point that we should not avoid it, but I don't know how sensible it is. In the current climate, he might find the BBC are closer to the truth.
