Pope Benedict XVI called abortion and divorce “grave sins” and warned that a “culture of death” might put the lives of the elderly at risk.
The Pope’s remarks during audiences at the Vatican are his latest defence of the traditional family based on marriage between man and woman and of human life from conception to natural death.
The Pope said divorce and abortion harm the dignity of human life, cause suffering to those involved and hurt innocent victims such as the unborn child or the children of a divorced couple.
Benedict also spoke today about the role of grandparents in society. He warned that modern society even goes as far as to increasingly propose euthanasia as a way to solve the question for many families of how to deal with their elderly.

I agree with him in this regard. Simple as. I disagree with the man on many other topics but here he is spot on.
Sigh...
Abortion has a thread. What is wrong with divorce? Why doesn't the church get with the program and accept social norms?

Succumbing to social norms, fall short of God's plan for us. The Church doesn't ditch God's word because some people plan to do things differently.
Also divorce can be carried out on grounds of unchastity or being unfaithful to marital vows.

That is not true.

Yay, I think you are getting tired or I am, because that doesn't make any sense to me.
Ditch God's word...you assume it is God's word where really it is the word of some guys who lived 2000 years ago and was not qualified to dictate how people live today. Indeed, they were never qualified to dictate how anyone lives in any age. It is a mystery to me why anyone is gullible enough to think otherwise. I also wonder which religion they would follow today if they were alive.
Divorce...unchastity, unfaithful, yes those are good reasons for divorce. So what?

Yes it is. Check the Bible.
I'm talking about the Catholic church.
Divorce does not exist.

Of course it makes sense. You expect the Church to change the Bible to say something else. As for your claim on the accuracy of the Bible, the Church takes it as true. So if you are discussing the Church being behind social norms, they are going to remain true to the Bible regardless of what people decide to do. In addition to this I welcome my Catholic brothers in faith for bringing this to the attention of their population.
As for the prophets most them followed Judaism as Judaism was the predecessor to Christianity. I also consider Jews to have strong spiritual links to us. It's interesting looking at the Judaism and the Jewish links of Yeshua ben Nazerat (his actual Jewish name).

like an angel said, people toke the word of God beutyful as it were and turned it into a religion and fought waes over it
love you neaighbor, and the priest and other religies leaders saw this as, kill the infidels and brun the witches
the whole problem with religion as I see it, is that we were all taught about sin and punishment and God being displeased with us. Our mothers laid big guilt trips on us, the priests laid guilt trips on us, and we heaped guilt on ourselves too.
Maybe I'm living in another dimension, but my version of God, the creator, the universe, mother earth, is loving and forgiving. S/he knows we humans f..ck up and doesn't have to punish us cause we punish ourselves plenty.S/he has a lot of patience with us and knows that eventually, most of us will figure it out, if not in this lifetime, then in the next.
We do have to have rules to live by to be in a society with other people, but human beings do not need to dictate to me what God will be pleased or displeased with.

I cann't imagine why a god would want to torture people forever because they didn't catch faith. Why would that be so important? And isn't this eternal torture thing rather, well, psychopathic?
On the othern hand, the interest of those in the god business in having people believe such a thing is obvious.
