Tunisian Carthages Eagles – Proud to be Muslims
The last thing one would ever expected to see a religious oriented Soccer team under an extremist secularist government of Tunisia. Carthage Eagles, whose players are known for their open demonstration of Islamic tune – is playing in the current African National Cup.
The other day, when team’s midfielder Chaouki Ben Saada scored a second decisive goal in the 3-1 win over South Africa - the entire team prostrated themselves in gratefulness to Allah.
Team players are used to opening their matches with a collective supplication to Allah - raising hands in supplication, lying prostrate after scoring or huddling together to get blessing from reading some verses of Holy Qur'an before kick-offs, etc.
After performing the Friday prayer, the team donated graciously for the poor in the predominantly Muslim city of Tamale (Ghana).
