this is nothing new. and the countries who hide their heads in the sand about providing needles will see the rates only escalate. even worse than the rate of HIV transmission is the rate of HEP C

Agreed. Also there is the issue that big Pharma is unwilling to sell antiretroviral drugs to poorer countries at cut down prices. I read somewhere that this wasn't because they would loose money but because the profit they would make wouldn't be worth their while. They have also patented many of these drugs so as they cannot be reverse engineered and provided free or cheep by others such as governments. It is a sad situation because with the correct medicine a person can live a relatively normal life even though they have HIV.
