Even though Pope Benedict XVI has agreed to change a traditional Roman Catholic prayer just to please them, Jewish leaders remained unsatisfied.

"It’s disappointing, it doesn’t seem to show any sensitivity as to how this new text will be read within Jewish circles,” - said Rabbi David Rosen, the chair of the International Jewish Committee on Inter-religious Consultations, which groups 12 major Jewish organizations.

"The language is better but it's still troubling," Abe Foxman, the national director of the Anti Defamation League (ADL), told Reuters on Wednesday, February 6.

Pope Benedict approved a day earlier a new version of the Good Friday prayer in Latin and said it should be used as of this year's Good Friday on March 21.
Jews complained the new prayer was still "offensive" because it says they should recognize Christ as the savior of all men and has an underlying call for conversion.

The Vatican's concession drew criticism from traditional Catholics, who say they are faithful to historical Catholic teachings. They were alarmed by the prayer's new version and said the original text should not have been changed at all.

World's some 1.1 billion Catholics attend mass on Good Friday - commemorating Jesus Christ's death.

Pope was also rebuked by several Catholic leaders, when he made insulting remarks about Islam and the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) – Calling him a Jewish agent.
