After Israel Occupation Force (IOF) demoralizing defeat in 2006 in 34-day war against Hizb’Allh – there has been more and more Israeli youth have been found shirking compulsory military draft. To counter this trend, IOF has been running an aggressive public relation campaign to attract more Jews to enlist in military service via putting add in porn magazines – while public relations campaign against military draft evaders is currently being waged on billboards, television sets and computer screens throughout Israel. Entitled “Real Israelis Don’t Shirk the Draft”.
IOF have even produced a video – shamefully projecting lies about the “wonderful social and military achievement of Zionist-regime”, for whose security every Jewish citizen has to fight for.
In response to IOF video - Israeli social activists came up with their own video with the title “Real Israelis Don’t Shirk (the Truth).” This video features Israelis sitting around and discussing why they did not serve in the military, or did not complete their military service. All of the reasons cited relate to a wholly internal Israeli discourse: the “state” does not care about me or my family or the military does terrible things to soldiers, about whom it also does not care. Interestingly, a Bollywood song is played in the background:
