It's amazing how then can sort out Serbia so quickly yet Cyprus with a full on invasion has been in such a state and it hasnt been fully sorted

personally i think it should just be the one state republic of cyprus, turkey should have no say in a former colony, the ottoman empire is long gone

Turkey needs to get out of there.

A few issues will arise amongst the normal people though when the wall comes down, over who owns what.

At least the EU has some uses...;)

Serbia is anything but sorted out. the division of Serbia and Kosovo is only going to lead to further turmoil in future.

viv why do the turks need to withdraw. You must remember the Greek cypriots were oppressing them before the Turkish invasion, plus many of the Northern Cypriots consider themselves Turkish.

Well, yes. But you need to remember Cyprus is Cyprus and Turks have Turkey to live in.

Arguably from their POV the Greeks have Greece to live in.

I'll gladly take it if nobody wants it :p

However I agree that it should be one state, and it should be ethnically both Turkish and Greek.

It is a very pretty island. I took this just on my mobile phone camera, from a beach front villa in Cyprus last summer...it was idyllic:

But if it's handed to either, there will be property issues. And what if they don't want to honour the current arrangements, people are already contesting who owns land in the north.

That's why it should be a Cypriot state, not a Greek or a Turkish one.
